An Israeli court ordered the unconditional release of two protesters arrested on Wednesday while protesting for hostages held in Gaza in Jerusalem.

The police requested to extend their remand for four days. It released two other protesters arrested during the protest.

Hundreds gathered on Wednesday at several sites across Jerusalem, shortly after Hamas released a video showing Israeli hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin, and called for the release of the hostages.

At some point, the protesters, including Hersh's friends, blocked Paris Square, near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official residence, and divided into two marches: one headed to the city center and another to the American Consulate.

Some protesters came close to Netanyahu's residence on Gaza Street, and lit a bonfire and flares. Another group reached the city's Great Synagogue, where National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was attending an event.

Goldberg-Polin, 23, of Jerusalem, was kidnapped on October 7 while attending a rave near the Gaza border in Israel's south. He hid in a shelter, where one of his friends, Aner Shapira, was killed. Goldberg-Polin was seriously wounded, and the video shows one of his arms was amputated.

Goldberg-Polin's family approved releasing the video, in which he relates how he was abducted and accuses Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of abandoning him and the other hostages.
