The Hostages Families Forum announced that Lior Rudaeff, 61, from Kibbutz Nir Yitzchak, was murdered on October 7 and his body is being held in the Gaza Strip by Hamas.

Rudaeff is the 38th hostage whose death has been determined, out of 132 hostages still held in Gaza.

Rudaeff is survived by his wife, Yaffa, to whom he was married for 38 years, four children – Noam, Nadav, Bar and Ben – and three grandchildren, Tomer, Dagan and Shai. He was born in Argentine and moved to Israel with his family at the age of seven, settling in Kibbutz Nir Yitzchak. Rudaeff worked in agriculture and as a truck driver, and volunteered as a medic and as an ambulance driver for the Kibbutz.

He was a member of the emergency security squad who fought the dozens of terrorists who infiltrated the kibbutz on October 7. His wife Yaffa stayed in their bomb shelter for more than 14 hours and survived, and their son Ben escaped from the Nova party.

"Rudaeff, a man of giving and a huge heart for all those around him, volunteered for 40 years as an ambulance driver in Eshkol [near the Gaza border]," said the forum. "Everywhere, he was always the first to volunteer and reach out to everyone. Argentinian at heart, an avid cyclist and admirer of Shlomo Artzi."

The Hostages Families Forum said after the announcement of Rudaeff's death that "The Israeli government has a profound moral duty to pursue every avenue in the current negotiations to bring Lior home. He deserves a dignified burial in his homeland, alongside the 38 other hostages brutally murdered. The government must also secure the swift return of all living hostages, so they can begin the long road to healing and recovery."
